Including hints of political allegiances
Recent studies suggest that political allegiance is one of the most vitriol inducing things to include in your resume. That includes information about your race and gender. If you were the head of the conservative students club, that may be something to leave off your resume.
OVER-SHARING about previous employer
Don’t be a blabbermouth. Bad mouthing your previous employer or even just giving away too much information doesn’t reflect well on you.
Have someone review your resume before sending it off. Preferably someone very literate.
Not being specific
If your resume doesn’t seem tailored to the position you’re applying for, it seems like you’re not only applying to many other jobs, but also don’t care enough about the position.
Talking about RESPONSIBILITIES instead of accomplishments
Saying something like “Responsible for food preparation” sounds much lazier and less impressive than “Improved food preparation speeds by 35% per dish”.
